Aus dem Klappentext

China is much discussed, but not well-understood. Predictions of China's emergence as a superpower one day are followed by predictions of imminent collapse the next. China Into the Future brings together perspectives several world-leading China experts who move beyond the sound bites to identify the multi-dimensional geopolitical, domestic political, social, and economic forces that will drive China's development going forward.

China Into the Future shows that China's present leadership represents a departure from the past, and its future leadership will represent a departure from the present. Its emergence will continue to reduce the freedom of action of traditional powers in a changed geopolitical landscape. The book also:

  • explains why China s economic competitiveness is overstated by those who focus on Made in China products and understated by those who fail to understand China's international economic linkages;
  • discusses macroeconomic and national conditions that often overshadow microeconomic and local conditions important to firms in China;
  • covers demographics, social imbalances, regional disparities, environmental degradation, and corruption which are forcing the Chinese Government to depart from past policies in unanticipated ways; and
  • provides many scenarios for China's future, none are pre-ordained, and all are filled with challenges and opportunities for companies and policy makers alike.

When it comes to China, fortune favors the prepared. By elucidating the forces that will shape China s future, China Into the Future provides indispensable insights and tools for business people, analysts, investors, and policy makers to chart their own China strategies.
