This collection of Burns's poetry contains a variety of themes: the rollicking satire of hypocrisy; the pictures of life among the rural poor; the swift sympathy for fellow creatures. This book adds poems that were not in the first collection, including "Holy Willie's Prayer" (omitted for fear of libel) and the later "Tom o'Shanter".
