It was in Rottach-Egern where endocrinologists and neurosurgeons, physiologists, gynaecologists, and paediatricians all interested in the pituitary gland have come together for the first time in Europe to discuss diagnosis and treatment of the various pituitary adenomas. Though molecular biology, physiology and morphology of pituitary adenomas were discussed at these meetings, the main impact of the EWPAs was on clinical medicine.
