Inhaltsangabe

Air Pollution and Related Health Risks: Investigating Environmental Health and Sustainability provides discussion on advanced atmospheric phenomena as they relate to health risks and environmental sustainability. Sections cover challenges, the carcinogenic effects of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons on the atmosphere, and reviews of microplastics and organic aerosol compositions. The book's editors also complete a micro and macro analysis of PM2.5 and PM10 spatio-temporal properties in the Himalayan environment, and aerosol radiative and health impacts are also explored. Other sections cover wet deposition and scavenging of atmospheric pollutants and a risk assessment of living-non-living airborne particles to human health.

Post-graduates and early-career researchers in atmospheric sciences, geophysics, environmental science, and meteorology will find much to learn and apply in this valuable resource.

Über die Autorinnen und Autoren

Dr. Umesh Chandra Dumka (ARIES, Nainital, India) is working as a Scientist-E in the Atmospheric Science Division, at ARIES, Nainital, India. He completed his Ph.D. in 2008 and had four years of post-doctoral experience. In 2011, he joined as a scientist at ARIES, Nainital, India. Since then, he and his group are actively involved in the in-situ measurements of aerosol optical and physical properties. His scientific interests cover a wide range of topics in atmospheric chemistry and physics from in-situ and remote sensing of atmospheric aerosols, aerosol chemistry, and climate to optical and microphysical properties of aerosols including carbonaceous aerosols with emphasis on elemental carbon, black/brown carbon and organic carbon, secondary aerosol formation, and air pollution, and aerosol-cloud-climate interactions, extreme phenomena such as biomass burning and dust storms, solar/renewal energy, etc.

Dr. Balram Ambade (NIT Jamshedpur) is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry. He completed his Ph.D. in 2010 and started teaching at various reputed Engineering Colleges in India. In 2011 he joined IISER Bhopal as Post-Doc. Research Associate and in 2012 he joined NIT Jamshedpur as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry. Since then, his group has actively engaged in analyzing Environmental and Atmospheric Chemistry, Black carbon and Climate change, and PAHs in the atmosphere. He has mentored five graduate students, served as the principal investigator on six reputable funded projects, and written four books that have received international acclaim. His research team is heavily interested in Environmental Chemistry and Atmospheric Chemistry.

Von der hinteren Coverseite

Air Pollution and Related Health Risks: Investigating Environmental Health and Sustainability provides an extensive discussion of advanced atmospheric phenomena as they relate to the study of the health risks and environmental sustainability.

The text opens with a look at challenges for urban environmental health and sustainability. There is an examination of the carcinogenic effects of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons on the atmosphere. Next are reviews of microplastics and organic aerosol compositions.

The editors also complete a micro and macro analysis of PM2.5 and PM10 spatio-temporal properties in the Himalayan environment. Aerosol radiative and health impacts are explored in depth followed by wet deposition and scavenging of atmospheric pollutants. The book wraps up with a risk assessment of living-non-living airborne particles to human health.

Post-graduates and early-career researchers of atmospheric sciences, geophysics, environmental science, and meteorology will find much to learn and apply in this valuable resource.

Key features

  • Explores meteorological linkages with air quality and advances in atmospheric science that address considerable changes in local, regional, and global climates; provides in-depth explanations of all five climate system components
  • Addresses serious worries about climate change and global warming, as well as a full explanation of the basis of these fears
  • New and unique content on the troposphere, indoor/outdoor air quality theory, and the structure of the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) observations and modeling approaches
