It covers the label's development, its rise and fall, and its rebirth under the EMI umbrella. There is also an analysis of all the major records released throughout the years. A few surviving central figures, such as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Jackie McLean and Sonny Rollins, have been interviewed speciffically for the book. This book tells how and why Blue Note Records has assumed iconic status.
