Whether separate schools be a desirable part of our educational systems or otherwise, when once constitutionally established, they cannot, according to the weight of competent opinion, be legally abolished by any Canadian authority; and only under exceptionally grave circum stances would there be any likelihood of Imperial intervention. In fact, our legally constituted dual school system, in the several provinces where such exists, possesses every element of a comparatively permanent institution, and the more fully Canadians grasp this fact the better will it be for the (harmony of our national life.
