Excerpt from Monthly Weather Review, 1911, Vol. 36
From the Pacific Coast to the Lake Superior districts of Ontario the month was one of extreme cold. The mean temperature of the western half of the Dominion ranged from 2° to 16° below the average temperature of January for some twenty years previous. In the Ottawa Valley and along the Lower St. Lawrence and Gulf, the mean temperature was also subnormal but not to such a marked extent. In southern Ontario, western Quebec and the Maritime Provinces, however, the month was warmer than usual.
