Invitato a recarmi ad Urbino per tale solennità, vi andai di buon grado, e vi discorsi quel tanto che la brevità del tempo ne concedeva. Ma poi mi parve consiglio Opportuno, e modo piu adatto ad onorare la memoria di Raffaello, lo ampliare quel discorso e nariarne la vita e descriverne le opere. La qual cosa mi era altresi resa piu facile da parec chi miei studi, gra pubblicati, sui maestri di Raffaello, sui suoi scolari, sulla sua dimora in Roma.
