"International Law" is an introductory textbook for students of contemporary public international law. The author surveys the differing concepts of international law and describes the substantive and procedural principles. The position of international law within municipal legal systems, particularly those of the UK, the USA and Canada, is fully covered and salient differences of approach are highlighted. Rebecca Wallace has added considerable new material to the second edition to take account of significant developments including the Gulf crisis, the changes in Eastern Europe and the dissolution of the USSR. Full consideration is given to areas of increasing importance, including the international regulation of the environment and international efforts to regulate human rights. The author has included a new section on humanitarian law. The text is selected and arranged to reflect the syllabus of a standard undergraduate international law course. However, because the author provides an overview of the principles underlying the international legal system, "International Law" will also be of benefit to students of international politics, international relations, human rights and anyone with a more general interest in the contemporary international community.
