This informative book looks at science learning in a wide range of contexts. It is divided into three parts. Part one deals with the arguments put forward for studying science, and includes a discussion on what science learners need to know about the nature of science and how decisions about what forms science curricula are made. Part two includes articles on the processes by which science is learned and part three deals with inclusivity and diversity in science learning and what widening participation means for science education.
This is a companion book to Mediating Science Learning through ICT also published by RoutledgeFalmer.
Reconsidering Science Learning will be of particular interest to teachers on masters courses in science education and academics with an interest in science education.
Biografía del autor:
Dr. Jeff Thomas is a Clinical Associate Professor at Arizona State University. His primary responsibilities are teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in fire service management and administration. He conducts research in the area of fire and human behavior. He was recently named a fellow of the Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics. Dr. Thomas received his Doctor of Psychology Degree from the University of Northern Colorado and practiced in Phoenix, Arizona for a decade. He has extensive experience treating public safety professionals both in his private practice and while working for an employee assistance program. He has been a member of the Goodyear Fire Department for seven years and is currently assigned as Emergency Management Coordinator. During the time he was in college, Dr. Thomas worked as an EMT for Life Ambulance in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Dr. Thomas has provided consultation to many fire departments and EMS agencies throughout the United States and Canada. He is recognized internationally as an expert in the areas of juvenile fire setting and adult arson. Dr. Thomas has also been involved in paramedic education and training for many years. He offers classes to paramedics and others to help them improve their ability to respond to psychological emergencies and provide a higher level of customer service.

Patricia A. Murphy, former vice president of the Epilepsy Advocacy Council of Long Island, currently edits the "Epilepsy Wellness Newsletter", a publication providing alternative health information for people with seizure disorders.
