These tables have been carefully prepared for the many users of statistical analysis at an introductory level. The enthusiastic reception accorded to the author's Statistics Tables (George Allen & Unwin, 1978) by specialist statisticians highlighted the need for a briefer set of tables to be tailored to the requirements of students who have to use statistical analysis but with no greater commitment to it than is represented by a basic and often brief introductory course. Both the coverage and the presentation of this set of tables have been determined with great care. In contrast with competing sets at this level, the content should match closely the requirements of users, who have little mathematical background.
