Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fair. Chalk, Gary (illustrator). 1st Edition. First thus, the USA hardcover edition. Stated First Impression. Published a year after the UK edition, the first volume in this enduringly popular series. A decent copy, free from owner names and bookplates etc. The spine tips are pushed and the corners are noticeably bumped. Remains square and firmly bound, however. The text-block is not noticeably toned and the edges are clean. Nice but not Fine. The dustjacket has fared less well. Price-clipped with splits and some loss at the corners. Nicks to the edges, two small sellotape-repairs and a much longer tape-repaired tear from the top of the spine down across the front panel with some adjacent creasing as well. There is some colour-fading to the spine. Fair to Good condition only but better than no jacket at all. Artikel-Nr. 1901201231

A lovely copy. In blue-coloured covers with gilt titles at the backstrip. The upper spine tip is lightly pushed, the lower corners lightly bumped but the book remains square and firmly bound. The text-block remains fresh and white and there neither owners names nor bookplates inside. Free from foxing or other spotting, a bright, clean copy. The protected dustwrapper is unclipped with price of £7.95. To the inside surface of the wrapper there is a small patch of cloth-bleed - visible only if you remove it from the book. The front flap is slightly creased and there is a very small split to the upper corner of the lower panel but overall it presents very well, Near Fine. A nice example of the first edition.
