The text stresses the physiology of blood cells, the etiologies of haematologic diseases, and the theoretical basis of laboratory procedures. Each chapter on disease includes information on the tests most often used to diagnose that disease (rather than grouping procedures at the end of the book), and emphasizes sources of error in the chapter.
