Rejuvenated by Holmes's discovery of the elixir of youth, Holmes and Watson set out to solve the brutal murder of Britain's prime minister and encounter the evil genius Moriarty, now in possession of a working time machine. David Dvorkin (born October 8, 1943) is an American writer of speculative fiction. Dvorkin was born in the United Kingdom. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and physics from Indiana University Bloomington as well as a Master of Science in mathematics from the University of Houston. He worked at NASA (1967-1971) as an aerospace engineer on Apollo 8 through Apollo 15, and at Martin Marietta (1971-1974) on the Viking Mars program. Subsequently, he worked as a software developer and technical writer before retiring from full-time work in 2009. Sherlock Holmes meets H. G. Wells, discovers the secret of immortality, hunts Professor Moriarty across time and space, and manipulates the destiny of mankind, all with the unflinching support of the stalwart Dr. Watson, who is coping meanwhile with finding and losing the love of his life. When Sherlock Holmes gives up the adventurous life of a consulting detective and retires to the Sussex countryside to raise bees, little does he or his old friend Dr. John Watson realize that their greatest adventure lies ahead -- an adventure spanning centuries and extending across the solar system. The future of civilization is at stake as Sherlock Holmes finds himself moving inexorably toward the final and most terrible confrontation with his ancient enemy, the time-jumping Napoleon of Crime, Professor Moriarty.
