"Rrrrrrrrrrrrr."

"What is that?" said the Sergeant Major.

"I don't know," Perseus said.

"I do!" said the Bugle Boy.  "Look out!"

They looked up and there across the landing was the Nanny's fat tabby cat.  The rrrrrrrrrrrr...rrrrrrrrrrrr sound grew louder and louder.  It was not a contented purrrrrrrrrrrring sound...it was a hungry one!  It was in fact the sound of the cat-word for "lunch"!

The fat cat licked her chops, ran her tongue across her fangs and dug her claws into the carpet, as if testing them, sharpening them for the kill.  To the Nanny's cat, the three figures didn't look like toys at all, they looked just like three plump juicy little mice ready to be eaten!
