Though corruption exists wherever there is organized human life, reports continue to show markedly higher levels of, for example, bribery, kickbacks, cronyism and nepotism across the Asia Pacific area – particularly as compared to the ‘developed’ Anglo-European West. Despite the prolonged and multiple attempts to combat corruption across the region, especially in the wake of the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997–2000, the challenges for business organizations in corporate Asia remain arguably as formidable as ever.
