Excerpt from The Relation of the Governor to the Organization of Executive Power in the States<br/><br/>It is the purpose of this study to trace the development of executive power in the states of the United States and to show how the power of the governor has been distributed among recently created administrative agencies to such an extent that the present day governor is shorn of much power which legitimately belongs to him. It is hoped further, to suggest a reorganization of executive power which will restore this in part and better serve the ends for which all government is created.
