Excerpt from Descriptions of Types of Principal American Varieties of Cabbage<br/><br/>Observations on single stocks grown in Widely differ ent regions Show a tendency for heads grown in south ern regions to be slightly greater in diameter in pro portion to length or depth, than in the cooler Northern States. Although this difference is noticeable, it does not appear to be so great as to make impossible the development of a single stock which will reasonably conform to the type of the variety over a wide range of conditions. The allowable limits of variation set forth in the following descriptions are designed to include the slight unavoidable differences that exist between different regions.
