Excerpt from First Report of the Postmaster General, on the Post Office Department, New Brunswick, 1857<br/><br/>Office. A mutual acknowledgment of such letters would be attended with beneficial results to both countries. Although the loss of property contained in letters is very tri?ing where the precaution of registration is resorted to, yet much annoyance is frequently caused to the Department from the impatience of parties, this often arising from the silence of the persons to whom such letters are addressed, and who do not promptly acknowledge their receipt.
