A. The Ising Model Consider a system of particles, with spin one-half, fixed at the vertices of a lattice. At each site, associate a binary scalar quantity, 0, which can be thought of as the projection of the spin. The spin can be thought of as pointing in some predefined direction in space (say, the +2 direction) if 0 +1 and in the opposite direction if 0 -1.
