Excerpt from Crop Rotation and Tillage Experiments at the San Antonio (Texas) Field Station
The climate of the region fluctuates from humid to semiarid. Droughts of many weeks' duration may occur at any season of the year, but they are more common during the summer months. The mean rainfall for the period 1907 to 1929 was inches as measured at the field station. If properly distributed, this precipitation would insure fair crop production, yet the irregular manner in which it occurs makes crop production uncertain. The rainfall has ranged from a minimum of 13. 14 inches in 1909 to a maximum of 47. 63 inches in 1919. Table 1 shows the record of rainfall by months for the period 1907 to 1929.
