Any variation from the standard of healthy function or structure is disease. Human Physiology is the study of the state and activities of the body in health; Pathology is the study of the state and activities of the body in disease. To study Pathol ogy to advantage, therefore, it is necessary that the student he conversant with the facts and principles of Physiology, and to make a practical application of this knowledge, that he shall have verified those which are cognizable to our senses by per sonal observation. In this manner he establishes in his own mind a standard of comparison, and is enabled to determine variations from this.
