This is not so much a guide to finding a mate as it is a self-help book for single men and women. The focus is on making friends. However, there is also plenty of advice on finding "sleeping partners," with all sorts of pointers on venereal disease, having a relationship with a younger man or older woman and breaking up. To bolster self-doubters, Ullman provides a series of quotations from movie stars about their amours. For example, Brigitte Bardot during her marriage to her second husband, Jacques Carrier: "I love him so much. His pain is my pain." Afterwards: "He was such a problem." Optimistically, Ullman also includes advice on taxes, charge and bank accounts, wills and so-called "living-together contracts."
