An examination of how women academics have apparently experienced patterns of exclusion, segregation and discrimination in higher education. Other issues include the extent to which academic relationships are characterized by endemic sexism; and disadvantages for women in different cultures.

Dr Ann Brooks is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Massey University, New Zealand and has previously lectured in the UK and USA.
