It examines systematically these developments in the context of the generally negative climate existing during this period towards mathematical economics. Contributions examined include not only those by authors like Dupuit, Thuenen and Gossen, but also by lesser known or practically unknown authors. It also includes a full bibliography of mathematical economics until 1871.
