The book attempts, in as comprehensive a way as possible, to make clear the central issues for the theory of knowledge, so as to provide a framework for that subject and also to indicate something of the way in which, as the author believes, the issues should be faced.

paperback. Zustand: Good. The Theory of Knowledge (Modern Introductions to Philosophy) by D. W. Hamlyn is a clear, tightly argued survey of how philosophers have tried to understand what knowledge is, how we acquire it, and what counts as justification. Hamlyn guides readers through classic problems â" scepticism, perception, memory, reason, and the status of scientific knowledge â" while comparing major positions from empiricism and rationalism to more contemporary analytic approaches.
