Mr. R. Stacey, of Nottingham, says: The coach-house should be airy and dry, with a moderate amount of light, otherwise the colours will be destroyed. There should be no communication between the stable and the coach-house; and 'the manure heap or pit should always be kept as far away as possible, as ammonia causes the varnish to crack, and the colours both of painting and lining to fade. Moreover, the doors Should be provided with fasten ings to prevent their being blown to with the wind.
