The compiler of this book is the editor of an educational monthly paper, which circulates largely among teachers in district and normal schools, academies, seminaries, and business colleges. He has had during the past year frequent inquiries for such a work, but has been unable to recommend any one book embracing all the different subjects desired. Hence the preparation of this little wor How to Write for the Press, was undertaken.

The object has been to give such hints and instructions as will serve to stimulate and develop the literary faculty which seems to exist among most people of fair education. The art of writing correctly and forcibly on such matters as the would-be writer thoroughly understands is an accomplishment which will enable young men and women to make themselves useful members of society; it will give them an advantage over the majority, who are unable to express themselves on paper with correctness and clear ness.
