Excerpt from Methodism in Central China
At the time (1860-2) when the movement seemed more and more likely to succeed, and a mighty revolution in the thought of the Chinese people about idolatry appeared imminent, Josiah Cox, the pioneer missionary of Methodism in Central China, was on furlough in England. At 'the China Breakfast meeting' a mail from China was handed to him. It contained a letter from his colleague, the Rev. George Piercy, and a remark able message, written on yellow silk.
