In support of the scientific philosophy of the Analytical Chemistry Division, the section's total program.has two objec tives: (l) to provide analytical measurements of the highest reliability to the various research programs of the National Bureau of Standards and to the Standard Reference materials Program, and (2) to develop new and improved methods of chemical analysis applicable to wide areas of materials research. The purification projects contribute directly to materials research by providing research materials for use by other investigators at nbs. At the same time, improved methods of purification are actively investigated.
