Second, the studies may be regarded as an initial attempt to evaluate the thermal tech nique as it applies to coal, and to determine What particular adaptations are most suit able for coal analysis. The great variety of results obtained by various workers shows that some methods result in thermograms with much more detail than others. It seems desirable, therefore, to determine which adaptations will yield thermograms with maximum interpretable detail and consist ently good reproducibility.
