Excerpt from A Study of the Double Cyanides of Zinc With Potassium and With Sodium<br/><br/>During the precipitation of gold and silver by means of metallic zinc, from the solutions obtained in the cyanide process of extracting precious metals from their ores, more or less zinc is dissolved and accumulates to a certain extent in these solutions, and its presence in some instances modifies or complicates the estimation of the simple alkaline cyanide in such solutions, and also slightly affects their subsequent action on some of the constituents of the ores or other materials treated by them.
