Excerpt from The Buffalo Trunk Sewer in Course of Construction, June 1884<br/><br/>A suggestion for the construction of an intercepting sewer to keep the filth of the city from ?owing into the Hamburg and Erie Cs was originally made by George E. Mann, Esq., then Cit); Engineer. Later, a similar suggestion was made by J. S. Youngs, Esq., City Engineer. Mr. Youngs' project for a sewer equivalent to eleven feet diameter at its head and twelve feet at its outlet was endorsed by Messrs. Moses Lane and Julius Adams.
