Excerpt from Guide to the Healthy in Preserving Their Health, and to the Sick in Recovering It<br/><br/>In the course of a long practice I never lost but one patient, when I was the first physician called. I will enumerate some of the diseases which I especially treat, and treat successfully. First, Pulmonary Consumption. In 1840 I first began to lecture on Consumption in England. I afterwards lectured in the United States. In 1846, I published my Six lectures On the Uses of the Lungs; On the Causes, Prevention, and Cure of Pulmonary Consumption, Asthma, Diseases of the Heart; On the Laws of Life, and Mode of Preserving Male and Female Health to 100 Years.
