This picture-book introduction to the celebration of Hanukkah won America's 1991 Jewish Book of the Year award. It aims to capture the warmth and good feeling of this special celebration in a contemporary setting, as five young children and their parents and grandmother spend Hanukkah enjoying its unique traditions: lighting the menorah, making and spinning the dreydel, singing songs and prayers, exchanging gifts, and eating plenty of potato latkes.
