The three authors (two neurologists and a hand surgeon) have chosen to continue use of the title of the first edition (1983) even though "entrapment and other focal lesions of nerves" would be a more accurate description of the contents; many of the syndromes discussed are due to external compression, surgical trauma, the effects of repeated pressure or friction, or overuse of an extremity. Introductory chapters are followed by discussion of the more typical neuropathies (of the median, ulnar, and radial nerves) and then by in-depth details of the less common lesions (of the sciatica, peroneal, and lateral femoral cutaneous nerves), and thoracic outlet and tarsal tunnel syndromes.
