The theme of the book is that there are well-tested programs for older people in other industrialized countries that the US could profitably study and apply. The final chapter lists ten programs and policy options (none high in cost) that would benefit older Americans if tried here. The challenge is for decisionmakers to investigate these options and begin to develop a coherent national policy toward older people. The book is well written, nicely printed, and well indexed.
