This volume is a report presented by the National Research Council's Committee on Analysis of Air Force Engine Efficiency Improvement Options for Large Non-Fighter Aircraft, which began its efforts in February 2006. It was requested by the Secretary of the Air Force and the Commander of the Air Forcer Materiel Command to address the impact of increasing aircraft fuel costs and find ways to reduce consumption. It offers recommendations for engine modifications and re-engining, optimization and maintenance requirements, use of alternative fuels, new technology, and improving financing and contracting approaches. The Committee consists of individuals from the US Air Force, industry, and universities who work in aeronautics, engineering, and materials science. There is no index.
