Malte-brun, who has been followed by many others, has proposed the name Great Ocean, or rather that Of Oceanica; but as all authors who have especially written on the subject have used one or other of the former names, they ought to be adopted. Therefore that now best known, the Pacific Ocean, is the one to be used.
