Excerpt from The Writer, Vol. 12: A Monthly Magazine for Literary Workers; January-December, 1899
It may be the good fortune of some to have a mental storehouse so full of material and to be intellectually so well equipped that they can produce a poem or a story on the shortest notice. There are those who claim that their regular practice is to spend so many hours a day at their desks and to produce a uniform amount of work of a uniform degree of excel lence at each sitting, that all they need is pen, ink. And paper, and that brain and hand, being always ready. Do the rest. This seems to have been Anthony Trollope's method, as it was that of Sylvanus Cobb, Ir., and many other prolific writers.
