Ma se questo componimento non destasse, come desta assai, la nostra attenzione per la forma, la desterebbe a mio giudizio per la sua sostanza, ed ecco un'altra buona ragione d' offrirla al pubblico, perchè vi sono manifestate le idee del giovinetto Alessandro e di quel tempo su gravi problemi della Fisica e della Chimica. Nè chi legge vorrà dimenticare, massimamente se scien ziato, che tale scritto risale a quasi un secolo e mezzo fa, e che per giunta questo periodo fu quanto altro mai fecondo di scoperte e d'invenzioni capitali.
