Nous avons vu, en 1864, dans la collection de M. Le Carpentier, un poinçon ou stylet en usage chez les Cingalais de Ceylan, ainsi qu'un livre et deux lettres de même provenance, sortes de manuscrits écrits ou plutôt gravés sur des feuilles de palmier. La biblimhèque du Musée Guimet, nouvellement inauguré à Paris, contient un grand nombre de manuscrits indous, sur feuilles de palmier, en sanscrit, tamoul, birman.
