Charles IX, pour affaiblir ses ennemis, réitère et fait publier de nouveau, en janvier 1568, l'édit portant pardon aux huguenots rebelles qui quitteraient les armes et se retireraient dans leurs maisons pour y vivre en paix. Quelques personnes profitent du bénéfice de cette ordonnance, entre autres M. De Patras, demeurant à Gymbrois, comme on le verra plus loin.
