As such now, we are to consider the form of writing in use among the Ja panese for ages with the help of their peculiar characters, and this form of writing has been closely followed by Hofi'mann, as appears from the examples quoted above. In the Dutch, as well as in the English edition, this principle has been adhered to, save a few harmless inconsistencies.
