IT has been a great pleasure to me to be once more the medium of communication between Guido Rey and that section of the British public which loves to read tales of daring deeds performed in the Alps.

I know that Guido Rey is himself a great admirer of England and the English, and of English mountaineers, and that he is much gratified when his works are read and appreciated in England, even though it be in the inferior form of a translation. He has told me that he owes a great debt to English example, both as a writer and as a mountaineer.
