Excerpt from Boadicea: A Tragedy of War
VI. The movement of spiritual affairs is simple and large; the movement of worldly affairs is rapid, discontinuous and various. I wanted to achieve Spiritual grandeur rather than profane excitement.
VII. With the above convictions in mind, I proceeded as follows: I opened the play with the attention focused immediately on Boadicea, and made a brave attempt never thereafter to let the focus be shifted from her.
