From my Journal of Botany I here reprint, with numerous cor rections and additions, a series of papers on all Umbelliferous plants having valvate petals and a fruit composed 'of two or more carpels, of which Hedera Helix is thetype, and for which I have adopted the name Hederaceaz; all genera with imbricate petals and l-celled ovaries being excluded, as elements foreign to this group.
