Life. Havmg strong faith in these truths, I have written a book in their light. I have tried to teach important ideas under the garb of a pleasing story; and though in the drapery of my tale I may sometimes have trodden within the fairy domains of fiction, yet in its substance I have kept be neath the shadows of the temple of truth, believing that Truth is stranger than fiction. Should the children of our societies be led further into the paths of virtue and knowledge by my labor, I shall be satisfied, and, what is still better, God will be glorified.
