Comme il n'est question ici que du mouvement que la Lune doit avoir autour de son centre de gravité, en vertu de l'action du Soleil et de la Terre, il est évident qu'on peut regarder le centre de la Lune comme immobile par rapport à la Terre et au Soleil, en transportant a ces deux Planètes en sens contraire le mouvement que la Lune a réellement autour d'elles, c'est-à-dire en imaginant que la Terre et le Soleil se meuvent au tour du centre de la Lune, supposé fixe, comme les verrait un observa teur placé dans ce centre.
