Headquarters for the project was set up in Brunswick which is located approximately in the center of the Georgiacoast. A Richardson Sedan Cruiser, twenty-five feet long, was purchased and docked in Brunswick. A boat this size was-nec essary in order that the large sounds could be crossed in rough weather. The boat had sleeping and cooking accommodations for three persons.

A field assistant, Lou North, was hired to help with the maintenance and handling of the boat during its operation. The assistant also helped in carrying out the various phases of the investigation.
